The Stephen Slouch is designed to be a statement piece. This oversized, soft, slouchy leather tote can be used as a handbag, beach bag or shopper with ease. Made of ultra soft veg-tanned leather that will change and get softer with every use. Luxurious and large, perfect for all the essentials.

Ethically handmade in Morocco using 100% premium vegetable tanned cows leather.

Our Moroccan leather is hand-dyed in small batches. Due to the artisanal nature of the veg-tanning process, each batch varies slightly in shade and tone, particularly the lighter colours. The tan variation starts its life as a light tan, and will darken with time and use. We ask that you use our pictures as a reference only. Each skin is different, with unique markings. These beautiful markings and variations in the skin can be noticed on the lighter tones of leather (tan & vintage brown).

Slouch?! This bag is NO slouch!

An absolute beauty. Skilfully crafted and deliciously soft. I’m not worried by the smell that everyone seemed to comment about. Love it wholeheartedly. My only suggestion? Perhaps the website could have colour patches alongside the pictures? This would help with the agony of picking which colour to choose! I’m still not sure I picked correctly, but I guess that means I’ll have to have two!! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dark brown Stephen Slouch - my dream bag

This bag is beautiful, classic and practical - the perfect bag for my every day.
I spent nearly a whole year contemplating this purchase and bought a cheaper bag in the meantime - of course the straps broke on that one, and I’d still been dreaming of this bag so I gave in and purchased it!
And I am so glad I did - was tossing between the vintage brown and dark brown, but asked Dom via Instagram for help with the choice of colour - and we came up with dark brown. So so happy with the colour, and she’s been very helpful and lovely to speak to.
The interior is very nice quality with a great zip pocket and phone pocket which I need. It’s a big bag which is exactly what I wanted, and it looks exactly like the images online.
The smell of the bag is fine to me and not an issue at all. It comes with a card to explain that the smell will wear away after use.

The bag smells like chemicals

The bags nice, however it smells like chemicals and I won’t use it as I’m sensitive to smells. It’s very over powering

Yes, we do talk about how the bags can arrive with a smell, especially they ones that are purchased via pre-sale and are fresh from our artisans in Morocco (as they haven't had any time to air out here in Australia before they're packaged directly to our customers). But let me assure you that once the bag has been used the leather will soften and the odour will be released. It only takes about 2 weeks of use for the smell to diminish completely. Leaving behind a beautifully supple veg-tanned leather bag with a beautiful patina.

The bag is lovely, a little smaller than what I was expecting however great size. And not as soft as I would have thought.
I don’t like the smell of the bag, it’s a very strong chemical smell.
Other than that it looks lovely, packaged in a lovely bag and the detail inside is really nice

Thank you so much for your purchase and your review. Our leather bags soften and change as you use them, the leather becomes more supple with every use and this helps to release and diminish the veg-tanned leather smell that is present when the bag first arrives. In about two weeks you'll notice the smell of your bag should be almost neutral and a patina will be forming. To speed up this process we recommend working in your hands, don't be scared to play with the leather, it all adds to the end beauty.

In our opinion our bags look best when they've been worn for a few months, and even better after a few years. Our mission is to create designs that get better with age. We'd love to hear from you again once you've worn your leather in.
